New Program Generates Savings By Reviewing Employee Medical Bills

Advanced Medical Review™, Inc., a Phoenix-based firm involved with medical and healthcare cost containment programs, has introduced a new product service that will be of particular interest with group health or workers’ compensation plans.

The company performs a line-by-line review of the itemized charges submitted by the healthcare provider/facility or hospital. They check for accuracy of the charges, and correlate the relationship between the primary diagnosis, documented services provided and the billed charges.

Many insurance companies and healthcare providers have been auditing through in-house methods, using computer software only. The Advanced Medical Review program is one of only a few independent services of its kind in the nation. Each claim is personally read and reviewed line-by-line to assure the accuracy of the procedures, diagnosis and charges, providing a truly objective, results-oriented review. In addition to helping clients control medical costs, the program also reduces the employee out-of-pocket expenses. According to Jean Rice, President of Advanced Medical Review, Inc., their clients realize cost savings of between 25% and 30% through the use of their review program. The company has been providing these review services strictly for the benefit of their clients, but now offer it on an outsource basis to risk management companies, workers’ compensation administrators, re-insurers, self-funded groups and third party administrators.
